Message from the Current PTA
PRESIDENT - Rachel Harris Monteverdi
Welcome to the Holly
Ridge Elementary PTA
Greetings to all,
Whether you
are a returning parent or one that is new to our wonderful
school:
WELCOME
from you Holly Ridge Elementary Parent-Teacher Association
(PTA).
Do
you know the goals for your Holly Ridge Elementary PTA in the
2007-2008 school year? They are to:
-
Strengthen
our PTA through inclusion
(that's you)
and by
identifying and communicating needs, providing
direction(help if you need it),
encouragement (we all need a little of that now and then), and an
environment of cooperation (can't get anything done without it), and
FUN!!!
Develop
leaders for continued PTA service at our school
(when we move on to middle school, we'll need to pass the
torch).
-
Serve our
children by promoting and assisting the organization of HRE
PTA activities.
(We all want lots of activities like: Talent Shows, Science
Fairs, Spring Festivals, Pizza Bingo)
Provide
information and serve as a liaison among parents
(ask us - we're happy to help),
administration and other cooperative agencies, and by uniting
the planning efforts to address school-wide issues
(I like the sound of that).
-
Advocate
for ALL children in our school community
(that
includes your children) by providing opportunities where
parents, school leaders and the community can address and
solve child-related community-wide concerns (WOW!).
Pretty hefty
goals, don't you think? Yes, they are - hefty but worth it.
These goals are designed to do our best to make a difference in
the lives of our children while they are in elementary school,
and in turn they plant the seeds of goodness for their future
growth and development.
So the next
question is: How can we do it with so few people on board? The
truth is, we can't. We have about a dozen involved parents
serving a school of more than 800 children. We can't accomplish
all that we want to do without your help. This year be on the
lookout for a campaign to ask you for two hours of your time.
Whether you can lend a hand for two hours a month, two hours a
week, two hours a day or two hours a year - please set aside two
hours to help.
Hats off to
each person who worked hard on behalf of our children! And now,
we have fewer folks on board, the desire to do everything we
have done in the past, and more that we would like to do. How
can it be done? That's easy! I believe in the power of one- I
believe in YOU. Call me and let's start a conversation-

Make it a
great day * Rachel Harris Monteverdi * Your
2007-2008 PTA President
