Message from the Current PTA PRESIDENT - Christine Pyne
Dear
Holly
Ridge Elementary Families,
Summer is well underway, and I hope all of you are enjoying every minute of summer vacation. My name is Christine Pyne, and I am the HRE PTA President for the 2009-2010 school year. Joining me on the Executive Committee are Melanie Cooke (Treasurer), Hannah Goetsch (Secretary), Tracy McGuire (VP Programs), Mary Wooten (VP Fundraising), and Gina Steinagel (VP Volunteers). As the HRE PTA board is preparing for the upcoming school year, I would like to share with you some information about the mission of the PTA, details concerning membership opportunities, and some of our upcoming events.
The PTA is
North Carolina ’s largest volunteer organization advocating for the education, health, safety, well-being, and success of all children and youth while building strong families and communities. The PTA is a powerful voice for all children, and it is a relevant resource for families and communities.
At Holly Ridge Elementary, the PTA shares in the vision and mission of the North Carolina PTA by implementing programs to enrich our children’s education. The HRE PTA provides cultural arts assemblies, participates in Reflections (a national cultural arts contest), participates in a character education program, provides family fun nights, participates in Red Ribbon Week, TV Turn-off week, and Kids Vote, provides a Talent Show and a Science Fair, and advocates Literacy. The HRE PTA also provides grants to teachers to support and enhance their classrooms.
I invite you to join the HRE PTA by becoming a member of the PTA. Sign-up either at Meet the Teacher on Thursday, August 20, 2009, or on Tuesday, September 8, 2009, at our PTA General Meeting/ School Open House. At our PTA General Meeting, the HRE PTA will present its 2009-2010 budget for approval.
Many volunteer opportunities are available through the PTA. Whether it is an hour of your time at a PTA event or taking on an HRE PTA committee chair position, your commitment to HRE makes a difference in our school community. If you would like more information about volunteering, please contact me at pynecom@gmail.com.
Enjoy your summer vacation. I look forward to working with you during the upcoming school year.
Sincerely,
Christine Pyne
HRE PTA President
